Exploring Awesome... Hypnosis Myths... a Jim Kellner experience - Podcast (Video)

In this episode I discuss some of the myths of hypnosis and there are a lot. This is an important topic since so many people are really in the dark about hypnosis. They want to know, "does hypnosis work?", "Can I get stuck in hypnosis?", and of course, "Does the carpet match the...?" Oh nevermind, LOL.

That first question, "Does hypnosis work?" is the most frequent question I get. It seems no matter where I am whether it's here in Phoenix, back up in Seattle, and even over the internet people are curious. I get it, I really do. I learned about and was fascinated with hypnosis since I was very young but went through a time in my life (when my critical mind was too much in control) where I didn't really believe hypnosis was real.

Like I tell my clients, "Just like you don't have to believe in gravity to fall down, you don't have to believe in hypnosis to utilize its benefits". Sometimes someone will come back with, "Well yeah but gravity has been scientifically proven". Good point. And so has hypnosis. For some reason it just hasn't gotten as much press, LOL.

Major universities around the world, including Stanford University, have studied hypnosis and discovered that it truly does affect change in a person’s life and there is a definite change in brain activity while someone is in hypnosis. Here's a great article that discusses this more.

In this episode I even discuss some of the reasons some people might not experience the same results as another. A rather famous stage hypnotist, Justin Tranz says that, "Everyone can by hypnotized for some people it just takes longer".

I can tell you I have worked with countless individuals helping them to lose weight, quit smoking, even release pain, or lifelong phobias. I have seen dramatic results. I remember a client that I worked with that had had chronic pain for over a decade which of course caused depression, lack of sleep and many other problems which only exacerbated his pain. He stopped me in the halls at the clinic I worked at in Bellevue, WA about two weeks after that first session to thank me and tell me that his pain had been reduced dramatically. What a feeling that was to know that I had impacted that person’s life.

This is one of the reasons I get so frustrated by the myths. Or the nay-sayers that claim they knew a guy, who knew a lady, whose cousin tried hypnosis and it didn't work. I will tell you I have had clients that did not experience success with the hypnosis. The reason; they failed to comply with the instructions. Some people will do just fine with only one session and will never even have to listen to a recording again.

Most of us though need subsequent sessions and/or to listen to a recording of sessions to get the full benefits. If you are not one of the lucky ones who only needs to listen once and you don't make time to come back in or listen to a recording on your own it simply won't work as well.

You couldn't work out once and expect to get buff. You couldn't take an anti-depressant for a day or two and expect to be "cured". You couldn’t just shave your head one day and expect to be pretty. Oh wait, maybe you could J

Well thanks for listening and please be sure to add a comment if you'd like. What do you think? Does hypnosis work? Have you used it?
