(Video) Street Hypnosis in Seattle

Having a little more fun at Alki Beach in Seattle hypnotizing random strangers. When you see street hypnosis videos posted you nearly always see the people that react 'the best'.

By The best I mean those that follow all of the hypnotic suggestions and the suggestions work perfectly and the person responds in a sort of dramatic way.

The problem is, this gives the public the wrong idea about hypnosis and can lead them to believe It's not legitimate because it seems so fantastical. Also, if you're one of those folks out there that thinks 'That could never happen to me' you could be right. (Although I have had many many people think that they couldn't be hypnotized, get hypnotized and even demonstrate hypnotic phenomenon.)

Dramatic hypnotic phenomenon doesn't happen for every person, every time. But the research indicates that there is no correlation between being able to achieve hypnotic phenomenon like 'magnetic fingers', 'eye lock', etc with the ability to use hypnotherapy for making changes like losing weight, quitting smoking, reducing stress and anxiety, etc.

Some people are just more responsive to the hypnotic phenomenon than others. Just like some people are better at math, learning foreign languages, etc.

Also, far too many hypnotists get discouraged when they try to do street hypnosis or just some sort of rapid hypnosis and it doesn't 'work' on someone. They then often assume that they must be doing something wrong when really it's just that some people respond quicker and easier and some people don't. And just because someone doesn't respond this time doesn't mean they won't respond next time or with a different approach.

There's also a big difference between being hypnotized out in public in front of a bunch of people and sitting in a chair or lying on a couch and a hypnotherapist office or in your own home working with a hypnotherapist.

This video is a good demonstration of someone who responded somewhat but not completely. I like it at one point when he says he's confused because that's what sometimes happens for subjects. I've had many subjects say this. It must be interesting when you're being hypnotized and you forget the number two and when asked to count your fingers you end up counting six.

A part of you knows that you don't have six fingers but that's what you keep counting because you're skipping over the number two.

Thanks for watching!
