WHAT DOES WELLNESS MEAN TO YOU?

Let me ask you a couple of questions... Are you one of those people that hit snooze on the alarm clock and then roll over in bed just so that you can get another 5 minutes rest before having to get up and go to a job that you hate? Do you feel like you are ten years older than what you are because your joints are aching and your skin has gotten saggy? Are you not enjoying time with your kids because you are so tired everything they say just gets to you?
If this sounds like you then I hate to say it but you are not reaching your optimal wellness. My name is Jennifer Matthews (aka Naturopath Jen) and I run the website “The Wellness Empire”, as well as 4 podcasts. I created this site to teach you how you can reach your own version of optimal wellness.
So, if I were to ask you what your definition of wellness is, what would it be? Most people would respond with “being without illness” or something to that effect. However, I have a different definition for you which I think encompasses everything to do with wellness. I believe wellness is actually a state of being where your life is optimised so that you are living the life of your dreams.
My definition of wellness does not just encompass nutrition and fitness, and the absence of disease but I actually include 10 different wellness areas:
Nutrition – I encompass a real food approach. I have many different options including real food, paleo, gluten free, autoimmune, low carb and ketogenic depending on your preference. You will notice that I do NOT include low fat because of the fact that this diet will only rob you of the ability to obtain optimal wellness due to its high sugar content and its lack of essential fats in the diet.
Fitness – I am not one to recommend you go out and exercise 2-3 times a day. I think that is too much. However I encompass types of fitness such as HIIT training, Strength training, Stretching and Yoga/Tai Chi. You will notice that I don't recommend long, slow cardio because studies have found that this actually shortens your life, it doesn't lengthen it. Unlike HIIT training. Mindset – How many people completely forget about mindset. Now I know that due to the fact that you are reading jimkellnerhypnotist.com that you are already familiar with the importance of mindset. I absolutely love this topic and I believe that unless you are able to get your mind thinking and behaving optimistically, your chance of success with optimising wellness will be limited.
Personal Finance – Wellness is not possible without you feeling financially stable. One of the biggest stressors in today's society is finances so with this section I am hoping to give you tips and tricks on how you can manage your finances better so that you no longer need to worry and stress about where the money for that next bill is coming from.
Online Biz / Career Satisfaction – Many people will probably wonder why this is included in this website. Now as I mentioned above at the start, dreading going to work every day, to a job that you hate is not living optimally. My purpose for this part of the website is to give you tips on starting your own online biz – even if it is only on the side. Please note however I am not forcing you to do so but giving you the option if it is something you are wanting to do. I am also going to post articles on career satisfaction and the importance of loving what you do.
Organisation – Have you ever gone around the house, disgruntled because everything was out of place. Have you ever felt like there was no set place for anything? If so, it is likely you need to declutter your space. This section will show you how to declutter, apply the ancient art of feng shui and general organisational tips. However, it will also teach you about time management, productivity and much more. Definately an interesting section to go and take a look at.
Parenting – Obviously this section will only apply to those parents out there, or to those that are looking at being a parent, but it is one which I am hugely passionate about, as I have two children of my own – Jayman (who is 12) and Amelia (who is 10). I am constantly learning with them and I try to post knowing what other parents are looking for.
Relationships – Without healthy relationships in your life I don't think you are able to be optimally well. You will just end up a very lonely person with a very misplaced sense of what people are really like. I am not just talking about romantic relationships here, but also healthy friendships, working relationships and business relationships. I am even talking about healthy relationships with your community.
Pets – If you have pets this is a section you might like to visit. We like to call our pets our fur babies and therefore how they are is a part of our whole wellness journey. We have a maltese schitzu and a cocker spaniel crossed with an english staffy and they are really an integral part of our life.
Environment – Finally, the environment and sustainability is definitely a part of obtaining optimal wellness. In this section I talk about sustainable farming, eating grass fed beef, organic gardening and much more. Look after your environment and it will look after you...
Obtaining optimal wellness is absolutely possible. All it takes is working on a particular area one day at a time. You don't need to work on it all at once. Don't get overwhelmed by thinking you have to change everything right now because just making a small change can often make a huge difference.
