Have you struggled with depression, sadness, or hopelessness? Maybe you thought your challenges were insurmountable. So did I. Until I tapped into the strength of my mind and changed my entire life.

Not that long ago I weighed 275 pounds, I was unemployed, broke, and ate like crap. In fact I like to say I didn't eat any fruits or vegetables unless they were fried or baked in a pie. What changed things for me?

I finally started trying to do less. You see like many others I was convinced that if I couldn't meditate for at least 30 minutes it was a waste of time. I thought exercise had to be 30-45 minutes 4-5 times a week or you may as well not bother.

Finally though I just decided I'd put in a very minimal effort and see what happened. I also decided to track my progress. I got the idea from Og Mandinos book, 'The greatest secret in the world' and from Ben Franklin's diary. Both books really illustrated the value of tracking ones progress. And I found it motivating too. If it was getting late and I felt super tired sometimes the idea of being able to check of my meditation or exercise on my list spurred me on to do it when normally I wouldn't have.

When I first started on my path of change I committed to doing 5 minutes of exercise, 2 minutes of meditation, and to eat one fruit or vegetable today. Could you do the same? I know it seems too easy and many people will say it's not enough. But remember, you can do more next week. And more the following. Before you know you'll be exercising regularly, meditating, and eating plenty of fruits and vegetable. Just no kale! Haha
